Instrument Exploration Camp

Ages: 9 to 12 years
Our popular Instrument Explo camp gives students a chance to discover and

play all of the instruments in the band and orchestra along with guitar

and ukulele. This camp is a great opportunity for students to explore

each instrument and choose their favorite!

  • Explore traditional band, orchestral and percussioninstruments!
  • Hear them played by professional musicians!
  • Try just one or each and every one!
  • Discover your passion!

3 Week-Long Sessions

Days: Monday thru Friday
Hours: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm daily

Flute Choir (with Mary Larson)

Mary Larson

Calling all flutists! Take part in a unique and beautiful instrumental

chamber music group under the direction of our own CMC professional

flutist, Mary Larson – with flutes only! Hone your tone and technique, as

well as your knowledge of flute repertoire, while having fun playing with

others! Players should have at least 2 years playing experience or

recommendation from a band director or teacher. There will be a

performance on the last day.

Jazz Combo (with Nick DiMaria)

Want to have fun playing jazz with other musicians at your level? CMC

Jazz Combo is a camp for the intermediate or more advanced student who is

looking to further their playing experience by studying small group jazz.

Jazz combos have been around for over 100 years and each style that emerged

over the 20th century has ties to this style of playing! With the

guidance and expertise of our CMC jazz professional, Nick DiMaria,

students will work on improvisation and song arranging while working as a

team playing classic jazz standards and songs. The last day includes a ½

hour performance.


One week-long session
Days: Monday thru Friday

Learn the fundamentals of playing in a small ensemble directed by our

professional CMC staff and have fun playing with others! Ensembles are a

great way to help your child maintain his/her proficiency through the

summer months and will culminate in a final performance at 7:30 pm of the

last rehearsal. Players should have a least 1 year playing experience or

recommendation from a band director or teacher.


One Week-Long Session

Morning Jam

Ages 12 and up

Have fun learning to improvise using moveable chords and scales that
are used in blues, rock and jazz styles that will help the student build
necessary skills in finding his/her own path to expression on the guitar.
CMC’s veteran blues guitarist/bassist, Billy Bileca, will cover basic chord
theory/progressions and how to find the “key” quickly.
Student should have a basic knowledge using pentatonic
scales and barre chords.

Ukulele Workshop

Strum along with other ukulele enthusiasts while learning to play
from our professional uke instructor, Billy Bileca. Learn chords, make new friends
and laugh along the way! A limited number of ukes are
provided for the class on a first-come, first-served basis.
